Vasco EVTIMOV
EVTIMOV, Vassil
STRENGTHS: Center and power-forward. He’s not very tall but powerful, with excellent vertical leap. Very dynamic for his size. He plays with intensity and he loves the contact. He makes his presence felt in the paint, especially on the rebound where he has technique, feeling and a great will to grab them, especially on the offensive glass. He’s one of the best passer in Europe at his position, he is very creative. He has an aggressive style. CAREER: Born in Bulgaria but he learned his basketball in France. He came up in Angers, but then left to try his luck in America. He played high school basketball in New York and played college ball in North Carolina before coming back to Europe. He played just about everywhere. His best moments came with Maroussi (10.7ppg, 10.7rpg), Greece. Changes team every season when not twice a season. EVALUATION: If you only looked at his numbers, you could consider him a star. He played at a very high level for stretches of seasons, but he never totally convinced, moving from one team to another with embarrassing frequency. He wasted all the opportunities that came his way at the top level. It’s one of the players that it’s better to have against than on its team, even though he is capable to have breathtaking performances, especially on rebounds.
