Antonios ASIMAKOPOULOS
ASIMAKOPOULOS, Antonis
STRENGTHS: Small forward with good body structure. At his best as a tactical 4, where he benefits from more responsibility on offense, and can use his quickness to attack the rim. He does well with drives and curls, he drives in aggressively and scores in traffic. Great attitude, a perfect fighter for the style of the Greek ESAKE league. Nets the occasional three. He gives a good hand on the boards and he plays with intensity on defense. WEAKNESSES: Very limited talent, be that in terms of technique or athleticism. He does not have the first step to play as an outside player, he rarely dribbles. He struggles to create his own shot and he does not involve much his teammates. He lives off his exuberance. He tends to be messy and takes initiatives for which he does not have the technique. Three-point percentages are very irregular. CAREER: he started at the bottom of the ladder. He played many seasons either in teams fighting to stay up in the ESAKE or in second division teams. He had a couple of good seasons in terms of stats, but still in teams with limited ambitions. He played for the ambitious Aris for two years. He did well the first season but had little impact the following. Found his ideal club in Rodou, where he spent the last four seasons. EVALUATION: Ideal player for the Greek league. He does not have the technical attributes to step up a level. He can do well in teams without many talented players, where his energy and initiatives become useful. At his best as a reserve and as a tactical 4, with the mission the change the competitive climate of the game.
