Pablo PRIGIONI
PRIGIONI, Pablo
STRENGTHS: Atypical point-guard who plays with devotion. He’s one of the best on-the-ball defenders in Europe. He’s a great threat for the steals, stripping the attacker or covering well the passing lanes. He has size and plays tough and with intensity. Unlimited quantity of energy, he never seems to be tired. He works extremely well on the Pick & Rolls, he does a good job of feeding the front men. He takes his responsibility in clutch time and can hit the dagger from three when needed. WEAKNESSES: He’s not a true point-guard, he struggles to run the plays when under pressure. He does not always seem lucid and his decision making is questionable. On offense, he’s not a big scorer. Seldom attacks the rim with drives and his three-point shooting is irregular. He tends not to look at the basket. He lacks talent to invent and create from 1-on-1 situations. CAREER: He arrived in Spain very young and struggled in his debut. Did not fair well at Fuenlabrada but found playing time at Alicante where he broke out. He moved to Tau where he made further progress, becoming more solid and reliable although he might have become less of an offensive threat. However he seriously cut back on his mistakes. Did exceptionally well for years at Vitoria. Surprisingly signed for Madrid in 2009. EVALUATION: An overachiever. He got the maximum out of his potential. He always gives his all and this makes him a favorite amongst his teammates and fans. The extension of the coach on the court. He struggles when he is assigned limited and specific tasks. Difficult not to like somebody who plays with such devotion….
