Ralph BIGGS
BIGGS, Ralph
STRENGTHS: Versatile outside player. He’s tall and has great athletic attributes: he’s quick, has elevation, body control and can score tough baskets around the rim in unpredictable ways. Has the scorer’s mentality and the personality to be the leader of the team. He can score in many different ways. Has improved in all the little things. He’s tougher than what one would expect from his body structure. WEAKNESSES: Body is on the weak side, he lacks muscles. He struggles when physical contact occurs and in low-tempo games. He needs to run and have spaces to attack in order to be effective. He’s not a pure shooter but rather a scorer who needs total freedom on offense and to be fed a lot. Can he express his game in a better league than Belgium’s? CAREER: He came out of a little college, Towson State, with good numbers but little credentials. He arrived in Europe without drawing much attention, he had a brilliant debut in Holland (24ppg). He moved to Belgium, where he became a star with Ostende, doing extremely well in the cup competition as well. He won leagues and cup titles there. He had a season at 16ppg at Liege but many ups and downs at Charleroi. Russia was his next stop, he was given a lot more playing time in his second season in Ural Great before moving to Samara. Signed for Limoges, France, this summer. EVALUATION: He went back on track after a couple of average seasons. In Belgium, he was a good player as he could express his game based on his instincts in an open basketball, with many fast breaks. Good attitude, he knows what he has to do on court. In terms of leadership, he improved. He completed his game as well, having an influence not only in terms of points scored. Had better stats in the BLB than in the European competitions.
