Hollis PRICE
PRICE, Hollis
STRENGTHS: A player with great heart. Adored by his teammates and coach. He leads by example, he will sacrifice for the team. Never seems tired, he will throw the body at the ball. He’s always focused and he plays with constant intensity on defense. On offense, his main strength is his three-point shooting, he does it from any situations: kick outs, off the dribble, with the jumper, off Pick & Rolls. A 2 who turned into a 1, he found confidence in his point guard role. WEAKNESSES: Lightweight. Sometimes, his exuberance leads him to overdo things. He takes an awful lot of responsibility and does not always have the necessary lucidity to do so. He’s an atypical point-guard, he’s not very creative. Has to improve his management of the time and when the offense does not work, he has not the talent to turn things around. Average passing and dribbling skills. He’s not a great threat off the dribble (1-on-1, or Pick & Rolls). CAREER: Fantastic with Oklahoma when he was coach Sampson’s extension on the court. He was born as a guard and that prevented him from aiming for the NBA. He did not shine at Chicago’s pre-draft camp and had to move to Europe. He had two excellent seasons with Le Mans, France, and a positive season with Alba, Germany, before struggling during the playoffs. Did well in Euroleague with Lietuvos in 2007-08. Back in Germany, first with Dragons and then Berlin in 2010. EVALUATION: You can only admire a player who does his job with so much heart and with a great mentality. He has a lot of will to improve and he does it in the little things as well as in learning to run a team. He has limited talent and never became a super star in Europe but he is still a player with a big impact.
