David BAILEY
BAILEY, David
STRENGTHS: Short and extremely quick point-guard. He’s a real threat when he’s allowed to increase the tempo and run the court because he plays hard and is not afraid to go and finish his drives. He plays with enthusiasm. He’s capable to cause havoc in a set defense thanks to his drives and kick-outs. On defense, he can put a lot of pressure on the ball, as he has quick hands and feet. WEAKNESSES: His short size makes it difficult for him, especially playing a half court game. When the rhythm of the play is low, his flaws emerge. He’s inconsistent from three, he’s a bit predictable in Pick & Roll situations, and he struggles to take shots when facing the help defense. As a point-guard, he does not involve his teammates enough. Good attitude but not a leader. CAREER: He played ball in a modest college, Loyola Chicago, where he was a star, always in the ideal starting five of the conference. He came out with good numbers but few credentials, he was a rookie in the CBA in 2003-04 (12.9ppg, 7.5apg) before going round the world: he played in Croatia, Australia, CBA and repeatedly in France. Past the last few years in the NBDL. EVALUATION: A point-guard who came out of nowhere, with decent credentials in CBA and France, but suited to only one type of basketball. He needs to run and constantly play at a fast tempo in order to be effective. He’s quite quick and has a good attitude, which increases his value. Unreliable shooter beyond the arc, which keeps him out of the best leagues.
