Dwayne MITCHELL
MITCHELL, Dwayne
STRENGTHS: Guard with tremendous athleticism. Physically strong, broad-shouldered, body control in the air is top-shelf, he manages to keep his balance in tough situations. He can score points, he creates in 1-on-1 situations, he can drive past his defender and change pace and direction. His best asset is his mid-range game: he scores the pull up jumper and special shots. He can pass the ball and gives a hand on the rebounds. WEAKNESSES: His main drawback is his three-point shot. He does not have confidence, and has low percentages. That makes him predictable, as he always wants to drive. Attitude and leadership still a major question mark. He plays with little energy and does not seem to gel with the rest of the group. On defense, considering his means, he should do a lot more. CAREER: Born in New Orleans, he had started his career with the important Auburn college where he did very little as a freshman (3.5ppg, 2.5rpg). He decided to go back home to play with Louisiana-Lafayette, where he became a star, playing as a point guard as well. Excellent as a senior, he made the ideal starting five of the Sun Belt conference and was invited at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and then in Orlando. Travelled between average European leagues and the NBDL before settling in Israel since 2009, scoring bags of points. EVALUATION: A player with decent credentials. He lacks experience in European Basketball and at the top level. He proved he had potential as a scorer, when he gives his all, he’s a solid player. However, he failed to convince: he plays with little intensity, he doe snot have a good body language. He has potential but will need time to improve.
