Andy PANKO
PANKO, Andy
STRENGTHS: Old-fashioned forward. He has the game of an outside player and the size of a big man. He has improved a lot his attitude, mental and physical toughness. He managed to adapt to minor roles after playing for years as the main focal point of the offence. Good basketball IQ and court vision. Excellent ball-handling skills. He can drives for runners and special shoots. Excellent from beyond the arc. CAREER: Born in Pennsylvania, he went to a third division college. He was sent to the Portsmouth invitational tournament and after a senior year with 26.6ppg and 10.6rpg, he did the summer league with the Lakers without being selected. Excellent in the IBL, he played in the NBA before moving to Europe and Naples where he was cut. Next stop was the CBA before he settled in Spain, where he’s been playing for years. Played one season in LEB and won promotion in the ACB. EVALUATION: He never managed to reach the level of play that was expected of him at his arrival in Europe. He is not a warrior and he does not have a defined position. However, looking back to recent years, he showed a great attitude, proving he could improve his game and be a fundamental piece of a first division team in Spain.
