MIGLIORI, Franco
STRENGTHS: Outside player with good size. He can either play 2 or 3 and he adapts to a role of starter or coming off the bench. He knows what he has to do on court, disciplined, good mover without the ball, he gets himself open for the assists. He’s happy with what he gets on offense, he does not make mistakes: good decision making and court vision. His main quality is his shooting ability: coming off the screens, open, catch-and-shoot. Decent defender, good mentality.
WEAKNESSES: Quick but not explosive. He’s not much of a threat off the dribble. He can play the game on offense but he needs his teammates to open spaces for him to be effective. He does not have the talent to create his own shot, he does not open spaces for the others. He rarely attacks the rim, and when he does, he seldom goes all the way. Too much enthusiasm at times. Poor passing and dribbling skills.
CAREER: Argentinian, he started his career at San Isidoro, in the lower divisions before making his debut in the elite at Gimnasia. He signed a long-term contract at Reggio Emilia, Italy, he did not play much in his first year in A (12mpg, 3.9ppg but 40% from 3). Sent on loan, he did well at Caserta in Lega2, convincing the team to sign him. Limited minutes again at Teramo in A before going back down where he can have an impact. At Jesi in 2010-11.
EVALUATION: Interesting player. He did not have a great impact at Reggio and Teramo, he did not have the necessary experience and he lacked quality to play at this level. He did better at Caserta where he proved he could be a good shooting specialist in coach Marcelletti’s rigid organization. His versatility and will to work hard is most appreciated. Not a star but a good player in Italy’s second division.
