Lucio ANGULO
BORN: 1973
WEAKNESSES: A player who puts the effort in. However, the quality is not always there. He has never been a supreme athlete, he is physically average but still, the age is starting to take its toll. Depends on his emotion: he tends to lose his lucidity, leading to bad selections and a few too many mistakes. He hasn’t much offensive talent: he’s not very threatening in 1-on-1 situations and his shooting is unreliable. CAREER: Started his pro-career in Zaragozza where he played until 95-96. Then, he moved to Tau where he became an important player of the ACB. In 99-00, he signed for Sergio Scariolo’s Real Madrid and stepped up another level, having four good seasons there. He landed in Alicante in 2003-04, performed consistently during his three year spell there, then he moved to Caceres in 2008-09 in the Spanish Leb, where he’s still playing. EVALUATION: An excellent player. He’s now reached the end of a career, in which he played at the top level but maybe without receiving the acknowledgment he deserved. He’s not a natural talent and his style is sometimes counterproductive. Still, he is a player who has a big impact, thanks as well to his determination, his fighting spirit with which he shows how dedicated he is to the team. Definitely a player to have on one’s team.
