Rimantas KAUKENAS
KAUKENAS, Rimantas
STRENGTHS: A shooting guard who has the typical confidence of the scorers. Physically strong, his solid body structure and his excellent athleticism allow him to go in traffic and score. He can score the basket in many ways: lethal three point shooter (open, coming off the screens). He works well without the ball on the curl. His main strength is attacking the rim without fear. WEAKNESSES: He has to learn to keep his exuberance under control. He has a fiery character that one doesn’t generally associate with the Lithuanians. Not easy to fit into a group because he rarely passes the ball. He needs to be the first option on offense. If he does not score, he has little influence. Modest contribution on defense and in the little things. A go-to guy but not a leader. CAREER: He played in many different positions and situations, worryingly changing teams very often at the beginning. He played college ball at Seton Hall. He played in Israel, Lithuania, Belgium and Germany scoring a lot of points wherever he went, always being amongst the top scorers. He made the last qualitative leap at Cantù (15.7ppg). Poor like the all Siena team in 2005-06, but they went on to win three league title in a row. He missed out on the fourth as he went to Madrid before coming backing 2010-11. EVALUATION: He had a bad season with Siena and changed team almost every year before. Everything went a lot better afterwards in Siena. A modern guard, who can score from midrange or from three. He has everything it takes to be a star except for the humbleness and the capacity to play with other stars, although he improved in that aspect with time.
