Corey BREWER
STRENGTHS: Combo-guard, at his best as a point-guard allowed to attack and create plays. A competitor, he always plays with energy and will to win. He has the quality to take responsibility in the crunch time. When everything clicks, he’s a tremendous scorer because he has physical and Athletic ability to attack the rim. He’s a threat beyond the arc as well, where he can shoot off Pick & Rolls and with pull up jumpers.
WEAKNESSES: His main strength represents as well his main drawback. A competitor who takes every game on a personal level. The team has to adapt to his characteristics. He needs a group that accepts him as the leader of the offense. Decision making is questionable, he sometimes loses his lucidity and ends up being counterproductive. He keeps the ball a lot in his hands. CAREER: He started his college career in a JC before getting the required marks for the NCAA. In Oklahoma, he had two tremendous years, earning himself a call at the second round of the NBA draft. However, he only played in the minors before making his (impressive) European debut with Biella, Italy. He had ups and downs with Sevilla, did very well at Madrid. Moved to Bologna and did well too in the Greek ESAKE league. Did OK in Charleroi, Zadar and even in the ACB with Estudiantes, but had a poor few games in Turkey in 2009-10. EVALUATION: He alternated excellent and disappointing seasons. He never found the balance between the role of scorer and the one of point-guard. He performed at his best when used as a technical weapon (at Madrid) or when he was the undisputed leader of his team. He is talented and has will to win but the team has to adapt to his characteristics.
