German GABRIEL
GABRIEL, German
STRENGTHS: A frontline player with the hands of a pianist. He prefers to play as a 4 where he can take advantage of his offensive talent and score points. He can either work facing-up or with his back to the basket. Clever, he’s a good mover without the ball. Makes good use of his body to protect himself, he can dribble. Soft touch, can score the hook with his left hand. He possesses mid range and three-point range. Has the technique of a star. CAREER: Excellent player at junior level, he struggled to step up in the ACB. He had little playing time in Malaga, Spain, and was loaned to Ourense, Portugal, and then to Estudiantes back in Spain. Very positive in his second year (6.7ppg, 2.8rpg), he came back to Malaga where he failed to break out. He had his best season in Bilbao (13.9ppg, 5.5rpg) which led him to the ambitious Girona. A third spell in Malaga before going back to Estudiantes. EVALUATION: A frontline player with offensive potential who needs a role that fits in with his characteristics. He has obvious qualities but evident flaws as well. Athletically too weak for the ACB and neither does he play with great intensity or has a good team attitude. On offense though, he can be devastating thanks to his excellent technique and versatility.
