Jim MORAN
MORAN, Jim
STRENGTHS: Tall small forward with size. Excellent team player. You hardly notice him on the court but his impact in the small things is tremendous. A fighter, he will sacrifice on defense, be that in 1-on-1 situations or as a help defender. He can guard various types of opponent. On offense, he has an excellent three-point shot from kick outs. He makes very few mistakes. He drives in without fear and can net the jumper. WEAKNESSES: Athletically average in terms of quickness and explosiveness. He struggles to create his shot off the dribble and overall he has little offensive talent. He needs his teammates to create for him. Does not have the first step to drive past his defender. Lacks creativity to create openings and threaten the defense. A scorer who does few assists and rarely accelerates. CAREER: He came out of a little college, William&Mary without big credentials. He averaged 13.6ppg and 5.4rpg in his senior year. He took advantage of his Irish passport and signed for Gran Canaria. He played all his life there, his responsibility increased season after season before decreasing from 2008-09 when he turned 30. EVALUATION: The perfect complementary player, ideal for solid teams. An excellent defender who makes very few mistakes and who does not look to be a protagonist on offense. He does not care about his stats and the glory but does an awful lot of little things that helps the team win. He proved in the past he could be an important player in a top team in the ACB. Definitely a player to have on one’s team.
