Egor VIALTSEV
VIALTSEV, Egor
STRENGTHS: A guard who can play the point position as well. Good body structure, does not get pushed around when physical contact occurs. Plays with character and energy. He attacks with determination and is not afraid to challenge the big men. His personality is most appreciated, he gives a hand on rebounds, pushes the ball up and can score on the break. Self confident, decent shooter if he has space. Excellent from the foul line. WEAKNESSES: Does a lot of things but without excelling in any department. Should try to be more composed and less emotional. Tends to be streaky, especially with his outside shooting. His fundamentals need some refinement; ball-handling and court vision must improve. As a guard, he lacks athleticism and is not threatening enough in 1-on-1 situations. Is he aware of his limits? His shooting mechanics are not that good and he has low percentages. CAREER: He began his career in a small club of St Petersburg. In the summer 2002, he signed a long-term contract with CSKA Moscow. Took part in the European Cadet Championships in 2001 (7.3ppg), in the Under 18 in 2002 (5.6ppg), U20 in 2004 (9.3ppg) and in 2005 (9.9ppg, 4rpg). However, he’s been less fortunate at club level. Did very little with CSKA, was sent to Samara on loan. Ok at Perm for two years (8ppg), after two years with limited impact at Triumph he did better in 2009-10 with 7.5ppg and 3.4ass. EVALUATION: Represented the soul of his team at a very young age which issomething important. Tough-minded guy, he always leaves it out on the floor. He plays with heart and great intensity. Has a habit of charging in with his head down and scoring, in traffic too. There are concerns about his lack of technique and athleticism. Can he improve and eliminate these flaws?
