Ruben DOUGLAS
DOUGLAS, Ruben
STRENGTHS: A natural scorer who managed to improve since he arrived at the top level in Europe by doing all the little things. He can score in so many ways. Patient, he takes what the defense gives him. He can hit the three, the pull-up jumper, drive in, and play in the open court. A quiet killer. CAREER: A career full of change of fortune. He started off in the NCAA in Arizona, but he did not have much playing time there. He moved to New Mexico where he was a sensational scorer. He had an immediate impact in Greece with Panionios. He signed for Fortitudo Bologna, Italy, where he won the league title thanks to his shot from the half court. Disappointing with Dynamo Moscow, Russia. Two good seasons at Valencia before hitting a slump in the third and moving to Caja San Fernando. EVALUATION: He is now well-established as one of the best guards of the continent. He is a pure scorer who needs a coach able to motivate him and the right context. However, he does not possess the qualities of the leader and consistency will never be his forte. But if you look for someone who can put some points on the scoreboards and who is prone to scoring outbursts, then he’s your man.
