Erazem LORBEK
LORBEK, Erazem
STRENGTHS: He has very soft hands and a feel for the game. He can score bags of points thanks to his complete game. He can face-up, he has a lethal three-point shot (especially getting open off the Pick & Rolls), he can dribble and help create the plays. He’s a threat with his back to the basket thanks to his technique in 1-on-1 situations. Experienced. WEAKNESSES: His career has been filled with ups and downs and he still has to show the character to perform as well as he could. Mediocre athlete, he’s a bit stiff, not very elegant with slow feet and no leaping explosiveness. Bad use of his body (screens, rebounds), he has to work on his defense and overall improve in all the little things and the dirty work. CAREER: He drew the attention when he was playing in the junior Slovenian national team (24ppg, 11rpg at the European Championships in 2003). He had an interesting season in the NCAA with Michigan State before coming back to Europe with Fortitudo Bologna, where he had little court time at first before improving in the last two years. He earned himself a second round call in the NBA Draft. Stepped up in Roma and got a call from CSKA. Went to the Euroleague final in 2009 and won it with Barcelona in 2010. EVALUATION: An excellent frontline player. He needs to add consistency and widen his capacities but overall he proved he had the quality to do well at the highest level in Europe. He lacks athleticism which probably prevented him from going in the NBA. However, he had some valuable experiences, made the qualitative leap in Roma and played the last two seasons in two of the best teams in Europe.
