Ivan CORRALES
CORRALES, Ivan
STRENGTHS: A modern point-guard who likes to play at a high tempo. He can be very effective to change the pace of a game as it takes him little time to get in the game. He has a good personality and he believes in his capacity. He takes responsibility. When he’s on the court, he makes himself noticed. Possesses tremendous changes of direction with the ball. He does a good job of driving past his defender, going in traffic, taking a tough shot or finding the open man. He brings creativity to the game. WEAKNESSES: He can only play one type of basketball, at high speed. He is not a good basketball thinker. He is prone to turnovers and has not improved much over the years. The selections he makes are questionable and his percentages are consequently low. His three-point shooting is in need of improvement. Does he have the capacity to defend 1-on-1? CAREER: Played at Badalona until 1998-99. He took part in the European Championships 1999 (5.4ppg, 2.3rpg). He had two seasons in Seville before averaging double figures for the first time in the ACB with the modest Cantabria. In 2002-03, he averaged 9.6ppg at Avellino, Italy, before moving to Tau Vitoria, Spain, for the end of the season. He was relegated with Tenerife. He finished best assist man in the ACB in 2004-05 with 5.4apg. Three more years at Valladolid with stats decreasing with age, and LEB basketball was his next destination. EVALUATION: A lot has changed since he was one of the Spanish prospects in his position. His career never took off. On the contrary, as time went by, some of his flaws emerged, in running the plays and the team. He fits in the style of the Spanish championship. If he had wanted to, he could have become a good rotation player but he never quite made it.
