Mehmet Hortoglu ('95) has been one of the big names this season in the Romanian U-16 league. The guard of Pitesti averaged 29.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists for his team in 13 games, but not enough to beat Viitorul U-Mobitelco in the national big final (67-70). In this contest he nailed 35 points, but struggling in shooting percentages (10/30 FG). The prospect ended as the MVP of the championship.
Last summer Romania finished 17th in the Division "B" U-16 European Championship of Tallinn (Estonia), with Hortoglu averaging 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists being one year younger than most of the players there.
