He posted 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games in the Italian League. Ekperigin enjoyed a standout college basketball career at Le Moyne College. He was named the 2008-09 Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year and to the all-conference team in each of his last three seasons there. He averaged 21.6 points and 12.1 rebounds in his senior year. Ekperigin, whose mother is British, is also a candidate to represent Great Britain this summer at EuroBasket 2011.
"He is a young, athletic and very intense player. We liked him at the PIT [Portsmouth Invitational Tournament] two years ago and we believe he can help" Gran Canaria sporting director Himar Ojeda said.
