Elan Chalon and Asvel Basket joined Gravelines and Pau-Orthez in the Semaine des As semi-finals by surviving their respective quarterfinals showdowns. Chalon downed Hyeres-Toulon 80-67 in Pau on Friday. Ilian Evtimov paced the winners with 22 points. Marques Haynes and Alade Aminu each added 13 while Blake Schilb had 12 for Chalon. Rick Hughes led Toulon with 18 points. Evtimov downed consecutive triples in a 11-0 run that sealed the outcome, 63-51. Chalon boosted its margin to 73-57 and cruised to a well-deserved win. In an instant classic, Asvel used a wild last-minute comeback to force overtime and edge Sluc Nancy 107-108 in the quarterfinals on Friday. Mickael Gelabale paced the winners with 26 points, including the game-winning basket. Davon Jefferson added 25, Kim Tillie had 21 while Matt Walsh had 16 for Asvel. Tremmell Draden led 7 Nancy players in double digits with 25 points. Free throws by Deane seemed to seal the outcome, 95-87, already in the final minute of regulation but a series of steals, 6 unanswered points by Walsh and a big triple by Edwin Jackson completed an unbelievable comeback, 95-96. Brun split free throws to send the game to overtime, 96-96. It all came down to the final possession, in which Gelabale won the game for Asvel at the buzzer.
