Two of the biggest stars of one of Top 16, Week 2’s most exciting games share the spotlight as weekly co-MVPs.
Khalid El-Amin of Lietuvos Rytas and Marcelinho Huertas of Caja Laboral duelled as point guards of a thrilling game in Vitoria, Spain. After Huertas set up teammate Mirza Teletovic for a three-pointer that seemingly forced overtime, El-Amin answered back with a three-pointer at the buzzer that gave L. Rytas an 86-89 road win, its first of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16. The final stats showed that each recorded a performance index rating of 29, better than any of the other 190 players in uniform this week. El-Amin tallied a season-high 22 points with near-perfect shooting: 3 of 3 two-pointers, 4 of 5 triples and 4 of 4 free throws. He also had 2 assists, 3 steals and 5 fouls drawn en route to his 29 index rating. Marcelinho scored 17 points and dished 11 assists in addition to 5 rebounds and 5 fouls drawn. Stars of two other big victories, Igor Rakocevic of Efes Pilsen and Sofoklis Schortsanitis of Maccabi Electra, were next on the list of top performers with index ratings of 28 each.
