As expected, Besiktas officially hired Ergin Ataman as a new Head Coach. The team parted ways with Burak Biyiktay on Tuesday evening.
Ergin Ataman already worked at Besiktas in 2007/08. He helped them reach the ULEB Cup Quarterfinals that year. In the last two seasons, the Turkish specialist worked with Efes Pilsen. They managed to win the TBL title in 2009. Efes Pilsen also won the Turkish Cup that year. Last season, Efes Pilsen reached the TBL Finals but they failed against Fenerbahce Ulker. Before, Efes Pilsen and Besiktas, Ergin Ataman coached Climamio Bologna, Ulker, Montepaschi and Karsiyaka. He also had an experience with Stanford University, where he worked as an Assistant Coach back in 1998/99. In his career Ataman won two Championship Titles and three National Cup trophies in Turkey.
