It was another great weekend for defending champion Montepaschi Siena in the Italian League as it whipped Cimberio Varese 82-59, while second-placed Armani Jeans Milano fell 90-95 at home against Angelico Biella. Siena outscored Varese 40-20 in the second half to pick up its 17th win in 18 games this season. Rimantas Kaukenas and David Moss scored 13 points each for the winners, Milovan Rakovic added 12 and Malik Hairston 11. Meanwhile Edgar Sosa scored 23 to lead Biella, which climbed to 8-10 with the win. Jeff Viggiano added 17 for the winners. Lynn Greer paced Milano with 18 points and Stefano Mancinelli and Oleksiy Pecherov netted 17 each for Armani Jeans, which dropped to 13-5. Bennet Cantu defeated Lottomatica Roma 79-74 to move into a tie for second place. Mike Green starred with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Nicolas Mazzarino added 16 for the victors. Nemanja Gordic scored 18 off the bench and Vladimir Dasic had 15 in defeat. Benetton Treviso beat Fabi Shoes Montegranaro 86-67 on the strength of 18 points from Devin Smith and 14 from Donatas Motiejunas. Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro held on to edge Pepsi Caserta 83-82. Guillermo Diaz scored 19 for the winners. Fabio Di Bella led six Caserta scorers in double figures with 19 points. Also winning on Sunday were Dinamo Sassari and Vanoli-Braga Cremona.
