The 2011 edition of the NIKE International Junior Tournament is just one game shy of completion after the 3rd and final day of the group stages: the finalists are KK Zagreb Croatia and Zalgiris Kaunas. Both clubs finished their games with a perfect 3-0 record, coming up with resounding victories on the 3rd and decisive day. Zagreb smashed Fenerbache-Ulker 107-68 to take top spot in Group A behind 26 points each from Dario Saric and Mario Hezonja. Zalgiris did the same to Regal FC Barcelona with a 77-50 victory after limiting its opponent to only 2 points in the second quarter. Tauras Jogela had 19 points for the winners.
Zagreb and Zalgiris will meet tomorrow at 10:00 on the NIJT court to decide the 2011 champion in a single-game final. In other games today FMP achieved its first tournament win with a 71-69 win over INSEP. Both teams, together with FB-Ulker, finished with a 1-2 record, with INSEP winning the tie-breaker to grab the 2nd spot, FMP going 3rd and FB-Ulker last. In the parallel group it was Team China grabbing its first ever tournament win with a 108-71 triumph over Crvena Zvezda. Three teams shared a 1-2 record in this group too. Team China took the 2nd spot, followed by Regal FCB and Zvezda.
