Jasmin PERKOVIC
PERKOVIC, Jasmin
STRENGTHS: Physically large power forward. Powerful, he makes good use of his body. He plays with will and intensity, he’s a tough guy that gets the maximum out of his talent and he has the humbleness to be happy with what he gets on offense. He’s a threat with central incursions, he protects the ball well and takes high-percentage shots. On defense, he’s present and tenacious, he puts the body in the way in help defense. WEAKNESSES: He has very little talent and athleticism. Heavy body, not very strong considering the size, overweight. Slow feet, not very reactive, he lacks explosiveness and leaping ability. On defense, he puts his body in but always risking the referee’s whistle. Average rebounder. Not a real threat from three. Rigid, he turns the ball over a lot. Slow understanding the situation. CAREER: He was part of the Croatian junior national team (3.8ppg in the World Championships U21 in 2001) but had a beginning of career without shining. He played for years at Rijeka, but he settled in well in the other Balkan countries (first two years with double figures in Slovenia), especially when he arrived at Siroki, where he broke out in 2004-05 (15.7ppg, 5.4rpg in the Adriatic league). Not as positive with Bosna. Three good seasons at Oldenburg, Germany before landing in Cremona in summer 2010. EVALUATION: Solid guy, with a good attitude who knows what he can and can’t do. He plays to the maximum of his possibility but he’s potentially modest, be that in terms of talent or athletic attributes. He established himself as a decent player in the Greek league (AEK), where his lack of quickness was not obvious in a slow style of basketball. Did fine too in Germany.
