In an all-Spanish League clash on Thursday, Caja Laboral defeated Unicaja 71-76 to ruin the debut of the hosts’ new head coach Chus Mateo. Marcelinho Huertas scored 19 and newcomer Esteban Batista posted a double-double for the victors. In Group F, Regal FC Barcelona topped Maccabi Electra 81-71 as Juan Carlos Navarro scored a season-high 24 points – including the 2,500th of his Euroleague career. He became just the second player to achieve the feat. Barca extended its Top 16 home-court winning streak to 13 and ended Maccabi’s winning streak at nine. Later Union Olimpija overcame Lottomatica Roma 63-64 in the Italian capital on a pair of Kenny Gregory free throws with 8.9 seconds left. Gregory paced the winners with 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. In Group H, Marko Tomas scored 19 as Fenerbahce Ulker stunned Olympiacos 70-84, ending a 20-game home-court winning run for the Reds. Roko Ukic added 17 for the Turkish champs. Next week, the eight teams that played on the road go home, setting up big drama as the road winners look to capitalize.
