Maccabi Electra cruised to the Israeli Cup semi-finals on Sunday with a big win over Ironi Eldan Ashkelon in the quarterfinals. Crosstown Hapoel Tel Aviv also advanced, becoming the first second division team since 2002 to reach this stage of the cup. Barak Netanya KO'd Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Ashdod rounded out the list of semifinalists. The semifinals are set for February 7. Lior Eliyahu led six Maccabi scorers in double figures with 19 points in a one-sided contest. Maccabi lead by double figures after 10 minutes and 61-35 at halftime of the romp. Chuck Eidson added 16 points and 9 assists, David Blu scored 15, Richard Hendrix tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds and Milan Macvan and Doron Perkins netted 11 each. Netanya ousted Jerusalem 58-64, finishing the game on a 3-12 tear. Tony Washam paced the winners with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Hapoel Tel Aviv reached the semis with a 106-92 upset of Maccabi Haifa in overtime. Adrian Uter starred for Tel Aviv with 32 points and 15 rebounds and Brian Asbury added 30 points. Meanwhile Ashdod will be in the semis for the first time after edging Gilboa/Galil 72-71 behind 29 points from Josh Duncan and 16 from Josh Carter. Jack McClinton paced Galil with 18.
