Zare Markovski, Macedonian coach with Italian passport, is the new coach of Limoges (legendary club of the French ProA, which counts 9 league titles, 1 Euroleague title, 3 Cup winners Cups, 3 Korac cups). He signed a contract until June 20, 2011.
Besides a promotion with KK Rabotnicki (1991), Markovski won three league titles in Switzerland with Lugano (200, 2001 and 2002) and 2 national cups (2001 and 2002). He also led the Macedonian national team to the only European Championships of its history.
Before his successful spell in Switzerland, Markovski had coach Darüººafaka (1998-1999) in Turkey, where he was about to go back last week. In Italy, he coached Sassari, Reggio Emilia, Avellino, Bologna (Virtus), where he brilliantly led the team to the league final against Siena, to the cup final and the Fiba Cup final four in 2006-07. He then went to Milan before going back to Avellino.
The president of the French club is Frédéric Forte, who Markovski had coached at Avellino. The agreement with Limoges was carried out by the French correspondent of the partners Santriolli-Hruby.
