The Last 16’s first application of the Eurocup rule limiting weekly MVPs to winning teams only has given Cedevita Zagreb forward Damjan Rudez that honor for Week 3 of this phase – and deservingly so. Rudez had a career night when his team needed him most, leading Cedevita to a 114-110 overtime home win against Gran Canaria 2014 on Tuesday. Rudez poured in a career-high of 35 points by making 3 of 5 two-point shots, 7 of 13 three-pointers and 8 of 8 free throws. His three-pointers contributed to a competition-record 34 made by both teams in the game, which also had the third-most total points in Eurocup history. Rudez added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and 6 fouls drawn for a 35 performance index rating. It was by virtue of his team's victory that Rudez became Last 16 Week 3 MVP ahead of Torin Francis of Panellinios, who posted the week's highest index rating, 44. Panellinios lost at home against Benetton Bwin as Francis piled up 29 points on 11-for-11 two-point shooting while collecting 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 fouls drawn. Following him were Terrell Lyday of Unics and German Gabriel of Asefa Estudiantes with index ratings of 31 each. Lyday piled up 28 points on 5-of-5 three-pointers, 4 assists and 9 fouls drawn as Unics defeated Hemofarm on the road. Gabriel had 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 fouls drawn but Estudiantes lost narrowly at Pepsi Caserta. Dontaye Draper of Cedevita, with a 30 index rating, completed the best individual performances in Last 16 Week 3.
