Five clubs are already certain to take part in the Copa del Rey: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Viotoria, Valencia and Valladolid, which upset Fuenlabrada away from home in the last round 77-73.
All eyes will be on DKV and Fuenlabrada (both at 9-7) , and the game between Unicaja Malaga and Gran Canaria (10th vs 9th, both at 8-8).
Let’s break it down and make it as simple as possible. If DKV beats Zaragoza, it is through. If they lose, anything can happen with the basket average. Moving on to Fuenlabrada, which plays away against Real Madrid. Seemingly qualified, two consecutive losses has put the qualification in jeopardy. A win and they’re in, a loss and the basket-average will get into play. Ninth in the league, DKV has not said its last word yet and still has a good chance of going through. It has to beat Unicaja first, though. A loss and they’re out, but if they win and one of Fuenla or DKV lose, they’re in.
Chances are not on Malaga’s side but they kept their hopes alive thanks to a 73-69 away win in Granada Wednesday. They will need a win at home and a little bit of luck: they’d need Fuenla and/or DKV to lose and to make up for their deficit in the basket average (15-18 respectively). If it beats Granca by 19, and any of the two aforementioned fail to win, then it would be through.
