Alba Berlin has added experience for the Last 16 by bringing back a home-grown veteran, combo guard Heiko Schaffartzik, on a contract extending through the end of the 2011-12 season. Schaffartzik (184, 27), who grew up in Berlin and began his career with Alba, arrives from Turk Telekom in Turkey, where he was averaging 3.8 points and 2.3 assists in 15.5 minutes over 10 games. Until this season, Schaffartzik had spent his entire career in his native Germany. He debuted with Alba from 2002 to 2004, but did not appear in any Euroleague games for the team. He subsequently played for Giessen, Nurnberg, Oldenburg and Ludwigsburg, where he averaged 10.2 points in six Eurocup games in 2007-08. Schaffartzik returned to Giessen for a season before moving to New Yorker Phantoms and Turk Telekom.
