Alba Berlin has found a new coach in Muli Katzurin, who signed a contract for the remainder of the season. Katzurin, 56, arrives from CEZ Nymburk, where he had worked in each of the last four seasons. He replaces Luka Pavicevic, whom Alba released over the weekend after three seasons. Katzurin led Nymburk to four consecutive Czech League titles and also reached the Eurocup Quarterfinals last season. Katzurin has also coached Slask Wroclaw in Poland, Ironi Ramat Gan, Bnei Herzliya, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Galil Elyon, Hapoel Holon and Maccabi Ramat Gan in Israel, as well as the Polish and the Israeli national teams. He helped Maccabi to win back-to-back Israeli League titles in 1994 and 1995, also won the Polish League with Slask in 2004 and lifted 8 cup trophies in three different countries. "I am looking forward to being in Berlin and working for Alba," Katzurin said. "I have followed the club for many years, Alba is one of the leading organizations in European basketball. It is a big challenge for me to lead this club to success.
