Power Electronics Valencia has taken a tough blow to its playoff hopes with the announcement Tuesday that star forward Victor Claver will miss two months with a foot injury. Claver (206, 22) was hurt during practice on Monday night and his broken right foot confirmed in tests on Tuesday. The rest of the Valencia team is headed to Lithuania for a road game Thursday against Valencia in which the losing team will be eliminated from the race for the Quarterfinal Playoffs. Claver was ranked 13th among all Euroleague players so far in the Top 16 and enjoying a stellar rookie season in the competition. This season he played 14 games, all as starter, in which he averaged 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds for Valencia. In the Top 16 he even boosted his numbers to 14.0 points and 5.3 boards per game including Euroleague career-highs of 16 points against Olympiacos in the last two straight games.
