Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv showed its readiness for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 opener with a 74-88 road win at Hapoel Holon in the Israeli League on Sunday. The win keeps Maccabi with just a single loss so far this season and with five wins more than the next teams. Holon led 45-41 at halftime, but Maccabi took over the game and limited its opponent to 29 points in the second half. Doron Perkins led Maccabi with 18 points and 6 assists. Jeremy Pargo added 17 points with 6 assists and Sofoklis Schortsanitis had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Rich Melzer led the home side with 17 points. Rishon Lezion defeated Hapoel Gilboa/Galil Elyon 78-68 behind a three-point shooting display by Yehu Orland. Aaron McGhee led Rishon with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Orland had 19 with 5 triples in 8 attempts. Gal Mekel led Galil with 17 points. Both teams now have 7-7 records. In other games, Bnei Hasharon beat Maccabi Haifa 97-100 after overtime in a thrilling game in which Lee Nailon scored 32 points for the winners and Frank Robinson collected 27 for the losing side. Barak Netanya smashed Maccabi Ashdod 85-59 thanks to a big closing quarter.
