In a game that came down to the final minute of play, the Mad Ants held on for a one point victory over the Springfield Armor 106-105. Darnell Lazare scored 10 first quarter points to give the Mad Ants the early l27-19 lead going into the second. Springfield's Jerry Smith scored 22 of the Armor's 31 points in the second to take the lead and went into the locker room at the half up 50-47. The two teams battled in the third period as the lead shifted 6 times. The see-saw battle continued into the fourth with 9 lead changes and 5 ties. The Mad Ants made a late surge thanks to Lazare's 8 points in the final 2 minutes of play and the Mad Ants held on for the one point victory. The Armor shot an astonishing 56% from the three point arc on 14-25 shooting. Smith made 6 from downtown on his way to a game high 33 points off of the bench for the Armor. Lance Hurdle also added 28 points off of the bench. Lazare led the Mad Ants with 28 points. Chris Kramer and Marvin Phillips both contributed 20 points. Ron Howard in his return to the Mad Ants contributed 13 points. These two teams will meet again on Saturday night for a nationally televised game on the Versus network.
