Injury-plagued Regal FC Barcelona has reloaded on the wings for a second time this year by signing Alan Anderson for the remainder of the season. Anderson (198, 28) has played in the Euroleague in each of the last three seasons with three different teams. Last season he averaged 13.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 20 games for Maccabi Electra, helping the team reach the Quarterfinal Playoffs. He was named Sportingbet MVP of the Month for February last season after piecing together the best back-to-back Top 16 performances in Euroleague Basketball history. He started this season in the NBDL, where he was among the league leaders with 21.1 points in addition to 5.8 rebounds and 5 assists over 10 games for
Anderson first made a name for himself during a four-year college basketball career at Michigan State University, where he helped the Spartans to advance to the 2005 NCAA Final Four, averaging 13.2 points and 5.6 rebounds in 33 games. He then played for Tulsa in the NBDL and Charlotte in the NBA before coming to Europe and suiting up for Virtus Bologna in Italy, where he made his Euroleague debut, and later Triumph Lyubertsy in Russia. He finished the 2008-09 season with Cibona, where he averaged 15.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in eight Euroleague games after joining the club midway through last season. Anderson was an important piece for Cibona late in the season and posted 27 points and 9.8 rebounds in the Croatian League finals in helping Cibona to win the title. Anderson also won the Croatian Kresimir Cosic Cup title and helped the club reach the Adriatic League final. The Euroleague champs are without small forward Pete Mickeal and guard Gianluca Basile due to injuries, while Juan Carlos Navarro has also missed time. Joe Ingles was already signed midseason to help fill the voids.
