Polpharma Starogard Gdanski is the new Polish Cup champion! The Polish team won its first ever Polish Cup trophy on Saturday by defeating on the title game Anwil Wloclawek by 67-75. Kamil Chanas led the way for the winners with his 19 points but he had valuable help from Robert Skibniewski and Deonta Vaughn to take the win home. The best man for the Eurocup team was Chris Thomas thanks to his 15 points. The first quarter was already a hint of the things that would be coming later as Chanas was virtually unstoppable during the first half to lead his team to a 36-41 edge at the halftime break. A 0-6 to start the second half earned Polpharma a double-digit lead as the transitions to zone defense put Anwil in serious trouble. After 30 minutes it was 52-63 for Polpharma. In the decisive period, Anwil started with an 8-0 to make it fast a three-point game, 60-63, but that was about it as Vaughn appeared to put things back in place for Polpharma. Then, more help from Sibniewski, who was chosen MVP of the tournament, allowed the many fans in the stands to celebrate the fisrt cup title in the history of Polpharma. For Anwil, Andrzej Pluta helped with 13 points.
