NADJFEJI, Aleksandar
STRENGTHS: Versatile forward. Excellent athlete, with the footwork of an outside player. He knows what to do inside, he’s quick, agile, he always finds a way to go up. When he has space to play in 1-on-1 situations, he’s virtually unstoppable. He has technique and can use his left hand. Excellent passer, especially when combining with the other big man. He runs the court well, does a good job on the dynamic rebounds. He can score points.
WEAKNESSES: Body is on the frail side for the inside battles. He lacks power, he struggles to hold his position. He does not have any powerful moves near the basket. He does what he can against the true frontline players. Does not have a defined position. He’s never managed to shoot from three. His defensive impact has been diminishing over the years. Modest presence on the rebound and in his paint.
CAREER: A star in Serbia but not on big teams. He put up great stats (21ppg in 2000-01) but he benefited from little publicity. Arrived in Bonn without credentials but he literally broke out, playing two exceptional seasons (18.6ppg+5.7rpg in his debut, 17.3ppg, 5.6rpg the following year). Then his progress stopped as he was injured in 2004-05. Positive in Koln’s title. Played two more years there before Alba Berlin and Tubingen in 2009-10.
EVALUATION: An excellent player, he failed nonetheless to make the last qualitative leap. He had some great seasons at Bonn and had an opportunity in Berlin but he did not quite make it at the top, victim of a lack of a defined position. Over the years, he generally improved, on the little things too (foul problems and defensive intensity) but confidence and impact on offense has wavered a lot.
