Larry LEWIS
LEWIS, Larry
STRENGTHS: A classy forward with a lot of experience. A shooter which knows how to take what the defense gives him. He plays quality basketball, he can score in many ways and does a lot of everything on the court. He has solid dribbling and passing skills. Good understanding of the game, he helps out the backcourt when the opposite puts the pressure on. On offense, he can either post-up or shoot from outside. WEAKNESSES: His age is an important factor. He used to be a go-to guy but he has not the energy any more to be the focal point on offense. He has to save his energy on the court. He proceeds in fits and starts. He lacks physical strengths and athleticism. His percentages are a lot lower when he has to shoot in traffic. On defense, he needs cover and he only grabs few rebounds, thanks to his experience. CAREER: He came out of a small college and played many years in Japan, always in the same team (maybe a record over there). He arrived in Spain at an advanced age, first playing in the LEB and then in the ACB. He had the opportunity of his career with Malaga (10.9ppg, 6.5rpg in the Euroleague) but he did not convince. Then he had two good seasons in a row in Alicante. Did well at Estudiantes and Zaragoza. In Manresa in decline since 2009. EVALUATION: A veteran in the ACB, he never stepped up a level remaining a player adapted to be the star on teams with limited ambitions. Atypical, he does a lot on the court. He can play good stretches but his energy level is decreasing and he needs help in defense as he does not sacrifice and he is not a physical style of player. He is reaching the end of his career.
